Our Groups organise programmes of led walks within our Area and neighbouring counties, as well as walking holidays and other social events. Each Group is different – they walk on different days of the week, they get to walks in different ways (some use car sharing or public transport), some call at a pub or cafe during or after the walk. They all run varied programmes, but some specialise in longer walks, faster walks, dog walks, or short social walks. See summary of groups and links to their websites below.
New Ramblers members are normally allocated to a Group by postcode but members can ask to be associated with any Group of their choice, in our area or anywhere else in the country. Whatever Group you are a member of, you will be welcome on any Ramblers walk locally and across the country.
We have seven geographic groups within our Area, listed below - see map.
We also have two groups not defined by postcodes, designed for (but not limited to) those within particular age ranges. A third group offers a dedicated programme of walks which openly welcome dogs.
Herts Weekend Walkers (HWW for short) normally walk on a Saturday afternoon in and around the county of Hertfordshire and sometimes outside of the county boundaries. Most HWW members are of working age or are busy early retirees who only find time to get outside and enjoy a walk at the weekend, however, everyone is welcome. Facebook
Stag Walkers a walking and social group aimed primarily at younger people (20s and 30s and beyond!) with led walks every weekend and social events across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and south Cambridgeshire. Facebook Meetup
Walks vary in length from 5 to 15 miles and of varying difficulty from a leisurely walk in parkland to a more strenuous hike at a faster pace. After a walk we often have an optional drink at a pub.
Herts Dog Friendly Walkers (HDFW for short) offer a programme welcoming walkers from across our Area with dogs. Most walks are on a Saturday morning, about five miles in length and start and finish at a dog friendly pub. In the summer months, we run some slightly shorter walks on Wednesday evenings. Our walks are mostly within Hertfordshire, with a few in Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire. We also run an annual dog friendly holiday and other social events. Facebook

We walk on Sundays, most Tuesdays and have a short Amble on the first Thursday of each month. Our Sunday and Tuesday walks are usually between 5 and 12 miles, usually within Herts, Beds and Bucks but occasionally further afield including London. Our Ambles are easier, shorter walks up to 5 miles with no hills or stiles and generally finish at a café for coffee and cake. We also have the occasional day coach trips for walking or sight seeing, and also organise short breaks to other parts of the UK.
